8 brilliant cleaning tips for your home

Cleaning your home can often be time consuming and exhausting. For this reason we have prepared some smart tricks for you which will help you to clean faster and keep the harmony in your home.

1. Utilise the good old kitchen apron

Do you remember that old kitchen apron with pockets, which you no longer find useful? It's time to bring it back to life. It will be like a workman's toolbox for you. You can put in its pockets everything you need - dust towel, glass cleaner, furniture polish, etc. Thus, you have at hand all materials you need.

Why is this useful? It saves you time from circling from one room into another in case you forget where you left them the last time. Your hands will be free for cleaning and polishing all your furniture even if you go from one room into another.

If your kitchen apron doesn’t have enough sections, or they are not convenient for the purpose, you can add a few additional sections using needle and a thread.

2. Bring the shine back to your cutlery

This simple chemical reaction is the solution that will make your cutlety shine again. Just put them in an aluminum container. Then simply sprinkle some baking soda on alreadyprepared for that purpose knives, forks, and spoons. Pour boiling water on top, enough to cover them completely. When the spots disappear take the knives, spoons and forks out of the container and polish the cutlery with a towel.

3. Easy-to-make curtains against dust

To help you protect your bookshelves from dust which is difficult to clean, put a small linen curtain at the top of each shelf. Aside from making cleaning easier, your bookshelves will be uniquely and beautifully decorated. To make the curtains, you need to measure the width of the shelves and the distance between the upper corner to the shortest book for each shelf. After that, cut a linen piece with the appropriate size, including extra 2 cm. for the hem on each side. Fold, sew and attach with upholstery pins to the upper corner of each shelf.

4. Clean your decorative candles with ease

Glass candle holders are very practical for a romantic date or a holiday decoration, but cleaning could be quite annoying. Use this easy trick - put the glass candle holders in the fridge for a couple of hours. When you take them out of the fridge the paraffin will have shrunk enough for you to be able to take the candle out with ease. Remove the left-overs with the help of a dishwashing liquid.

5. Restore the beauty of your indoor plants

If  your indoor plants are too dirty or have withered because of the home heating, bring them back to life by using this simple trick: place the flowerpots on the bathroom floor or in your bathtub. Next give your plants a light shower at room temperature. As for the smallest plants, you can wrap up the flowerpot with a paper towel, clip a money clamp to hold the towel in place, and carefully wash their leaves with some water.

6. Protect your bathroom from mold

Prevention, in this case, is the better option in comparison to dealing with a real problem- cleaning mold is quite an exhausting process. Speaking of the bathroom which is mostly affected by mold because of the high dampness, there are a few things which can help you prevent these unpleasant stains:
- The first one is ventilation (with a window or a wall fan)
- The second one is a constant air circulation and dampness control
- The third thing you can do is leave your wet towels on the balcony, instead of leaving them hanging in bathroom.

You can also use a dehumidifier. Choose open shelves and nonporous materials (bathroom's curtain for example).

7. Cleaning your lampshades efficiently

If you have cloth lampshades you can clean them using sticky lint roller tape. Its surface will remove all the dirt from lampshade's inner and outer side.

8. Dry your glassware

Drying the narrow-necked glass bottles or vases might be a challenge. If you leave them to dry on their own, the water inside will condense which will lead to decolorization of the glass. You can solve this problem if you put a paper towel inside the glass, tightly rolled up in a funnel, reaching around 3/4 from the vase's or bottle's height. The paper towel will absorb the dampness and will remove it without causing a condensation.
